Family Jools is the guitar/drums duo George Sims and Euan Palmer based in Bristol, UK, whose music has strong retro elements that reach back to early '70s rock with jangly guitars over distinctly loose and laid back classic rock riffs along with summer and sunshine vibes. There are echoes of that era in their music, including songs that seem to be channelling John Lennon from the great beyond, or the songs that would have been at home in The Band's songbook ... not to mention the feeling that the band often teeters at the edge of breaking into a jam band mode any moment. Palmer plays nice, fat grooves, while Sims is right there setting the tone. Their songs are well-written, with clear melodies and straightforward arrangements.
