Bourgeois Mystics

Bourgeois Mystics are a humorous, fun, party-time, eclectic band that effortlessly floats in and out of new swing, bossa nova, funk, rap, surf rock, and everything in between ... because they can. The band seem to have adopted Frank Zappa's approach to music in more ways than one: take genres and styles merely as suggestions for a given moment, infuse humor directly into the music itself and not just the lyrics and be very good on your instrument. When they freely cruise between styles in the course of a song they keep landing on the kinds of hooks any other band would build an entire song around, then they hop on to the next one. Easy come easy go. Their delivery is precise yet loose, and their arrangements may not be unique or unprecedented, but they are patched together in creative ways.
