Bettysoo (aka Betty Soo Kim) is an Austin based singer-songwriter and country artist who stands out with her crystal clear, pure folk voice, knack for storytelling, and perhaps a little melancholic streak. She generally goes back and forth between rock tinged country and low key acoustic folk. As a songwriter, she puts together strong melodies, but also tamps them down just enough by adding emotional contours so that they do not overrun the songs. She keeps it at the mid to low tempo range, settling her audience in that contemplative state to process her songs. Her lyrics are introspective and deal with a lot of heartbreak and sorrow. She has a way of coming up with some razor sharp lines that capture the essence of her stories.
