The Aquadolls is a band that has gone through roughly two incarnations, with singer-guitarist Melissa Brooks remaining the anchor over the years. They are currently a trio with a line-up that also includes bassist Keilah Nina and drummer Jackie Proctor, working in a style that sways back and forth between indie pop, pop-punk, and indie rock. Earlier, the band had a much different sound, drawing inspiration from classic surf rock, '50s rock'n roll, '60s rock, even a taking some detours into old school doo-wop (see 2014's Stoked On You, especially). The shift was visible when Brooks re-formed the ban with its current personnel in 2018, where they kept some of the earlier elements but began to place more emphasis on contemporary pop sound. The band's 2023 album Charmed was their first release in five years.
