Weaves was a four piece band from Toronto that delivered its own brand of art rock until their dissolution in 2019. The songs are catchy, but what often stood out about their presentation was the interplay between singer Jasmyn Burke's slightly skewed singing style and the guitarist Morgan Waters' warped riffs that could trigger a slight jab of momentary disorientation in some listeners. Burke used to deliver her lines as if this is the third time that she's been trying to patiently explain something, and her solo work is still not too far off from that. She had a terrific stage presence with the band, oozing charisma right and left, while Waters had a tendency to get possessed by the spirit of the 80's Adrian Belew, punching his guitar during solos. All that left Cole and Bines (on drums and bass, respectively) was the job of grounding the band, which they were exceptionally good at.
