Vic Mensa

Vic Mensa is a Chicago based rapper and a hip-hop artist, and a founder of the Savemoney collective, which boasts his fellow Chicagoan Chance the Rapper among its members.  He has an energetic style and an emphatic delivery that pairs with his often politically oriented, big issue lyrics. His music leans towards a punchy sound and the kind of grand feel that may be a subtle nod at his known affinity for the punk sound, something that he explored in depth in 2019 with his side project 93PUNX. Otherwise, his softer tracks tend to carry more R&B type tones. Rock influences were a bit closer to the surface in his earlier work, where he frequently pulled elements from '90s and '00s rock along with a touch of soul and pop, all of which he combined with his hip-hop grooves in generous amounts.
