Vic Mensa is a Chicago based hip-hop artist and rapper, a founder of the Savemoney collective, and a frequent collaborator of Chance the Rapper. His lyrics are often politically charged and his rapping has gotten more steady beat, hammering style in the last couple of years, but his earlier work was more on the conversational side. He draws from a variety of sources as his musical frame, touching on different genres such as folk and R&B as well as more overt hip-hop grooves. The songs where he sings have very strong R&B vibes, combined with a typically autotuned delivery. On the other hand, the punchier style that he seems to have embraced more recently exposes rougher edges and a more aggressive sound.
