Superorganism is a band that started on the internet, then became a working pop collective when the members moved in together to the some house in London. A hyperpop collective may actually be the more exact term given how they passionately push the sweetness index of their music to the max. Their songs are quite catchy obviously, driven by synths and loaded with electronic effects and found sound inserts. The music is brash, giddy, playful, occasionally herky jerky, and comes in a thoroughly charming wrapper. It sometimes feels like they are made of smaller pop fragments that are stitched together, which is also very hyperpop. The balance here is their vocalist Orono Noguchi, who seems to have mastered the art of staying aloof just enough in her slightly bored half-singing style to have a settling effect on the shiny pop sheen of their work.
