RVG
Outline
RVG stands for Romy Vager Group, which is a four-piece post-punk band with strong '80s jangly guitar pop tendencies. The leader of the band is the titular Romy Vager, whose songs wrap her angst in a deceptively upbeat pop that follows The Smiths and The Cure model to some extent. Stylistically, they track much closer to bands like The Go-Betweens and The Soft Boys, with a touch of '60s surf music somewhere in there as well. Juggling all these overt influences, RVG manages to distil them into a distinct style that they make their own. Their music is filled with catchy tunes, tight arrangements, angular guitars, and quite a bit of restrained passion from Vager herself.
