Men I Trust

Men I Trust is an indie pop band from Montreal, founded by keyboardist Dragos Chiriac and bassist Jessy Caron, who started out with a rotating roster of singers until they settled on Emmanuelle Proulx. Their music combines some of the lighter pop jazz sounds with danceable smooth grooves and subtle soft-disco like atmosphere, which gives their songs a nice level of cool. Their music is typically built on keyboards and electronic instruments and the bass adds a solid touch of funk at times. Proulx has a lovely, whispery voice that serves them well, especially when they start drifting towards trip-hop adjacent territories. They do not box themselves in too much, as they try different things, whether it is going all instrumental, turning to spoken words, or putting together classically oriented vocal pieces.
