Margo Price
Outline
Margo Price is a singer/songwriter whose early work was very well aligned with the traditional country sound as practiced by artists like Loretta Lynn. Her musical style has gone through some changes though: whereas her first album was scruffy, raw, and drew mostly from her personal history, her second saw an expansion in scope, bringing in a broader array of influences, some rockabilly, a touch of countrified R&B grooves, a hint of Tex-Mex, etc., and occasionally taking on a social issue or two (singing about equal pay, for instance). By her third album, Price was a polished performer who had veered away from her traditional roots, with a lot of attention to the production value, working off of carefully constructed arrangements, and achieving a clean sound with songs that were infused with fair amounts of pop and rock.
Loretta Lynn, Courtney Marie Andrews, Brandy Clark, later period Kacey Musgraves
She formed Buffalo Clover with her husband Jeremy Ivey. Later on, they formed Margo & the Pricetags, which also included Sturgill Simpson at some point.
Her third album, "That's How Rumors Get Started" was co-produced by Sturgill Simpson.
