Joan As Police Woman

Joan As Police Woman is the stage name singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist Joan Wasser uses for her solo work. Her music is anchored primarily in the conventional rock and pop format, but it also has very strong neo soul elements. It is characterized by strong melodies with very clear outlines, and a cool undercurrent of funk and soul, and a touch of jazz early in her career.  Her songs often have a little throwback quality that reaches back to the '70s, but she effortlessly steps out of this zone in her collaborations.  She has been flying below the public's radar most of her career, perhaps intentionally. Otherwise, she is well known and respected among her fellow musicians, having amassed a long list of collaborations and session work with other artists and built an impressive track record since her early days when she started out as a member of The Dambuilders in 1991.
