Horse Jumper of Love

Horse Jumper of Love is a band that approaches indie rock from an angle that embraces a slowed down, deliberate and emphatic pace. They are not exclusively slowcore though, and have always been prone to mid-tempo pieces here and there, which became more prominent on their 2024 album Disaster Trick. They play with song dynamics by raising their level of intensity and turning up the fuzz occasionally as part of their usual contemplative flow. These shifts between modes are typically handled in smart and sometimes subtle ways, and that gives the audience a sense of motion as the band moves through their songs, a nice hook in and of itself. Their earlier lo-fi sound also tidied up noticeably over time.
