Dawg Yawp
Outline
Dawg Yawp was the indie-folk duo Tyler Randall and Rob Keenan, who incorporated electronic backbeats, loops, and dramatic bursts into what otherwise would have sounded like fairly traditional folk songs. They then added a sitar on top of it just to make things more interesting. The effect was fairly striking and unique that did not sound gimmicky in their hands whether they were performing blues, rock, bluegrass, or country songs. Randall and Keenan made these pieces work well with one another so that the music did not feel out of place or experimental. Listening to their work inevitably brings one to the realization of how natural sitar feels in the bluegrass context and how come more artists had not tried that before.
