Big Freedia is the stage name used by created by Freddie Ross Jr. who has been one of the major forces putting bounce music on the map in the past couple of decades for folks outside of New Orleans. Her music is a specialized form of hip-hop that combines funk and dance music and builds on a specific type of drum beat called Triggerman beat. It also incorporates elements of the city's rich musical traditions, in particular the elements that are part of the Mardis Gras, whether it is Indian chants, the brass section or the call and response part.
