Winter is a dream pop band that was formed back in Boston, but over time came to refer to Los Angeles-based singer/guitarist Samira Winter. Her music has some fluidity between shoegaze with a light touch and dream pop, with often overdubbed, misty vocals and a generous use of the reverb. Her songs are mostly mid-tempo, displaying a kind of texture that brings bands like Lush or the later work of Cocteau Twins to mind. Her songs have patient pacing and fairly strong melodic grounding that also compares well with such genre classics. Her Brazilian upbringing makes an appearance every now and then when sings in Portuguese and adds hints of Brazilian beats into her songs, which certainly gives her music an extra oomph.
