Until the Ribbon Breaks

Until the Ribbon Breaks (aka UTRB) is the project of singer-songwriter Pete Lawrie Winfield, which started as his solo work in Cardiff, quickly accordioned into a trio with the addition of other multi-instrumentalists James Gordon and Elliot Wall, and then went back to being Winfield's solo work again, who by then had moved to LA. The music stayed pretty stable throughout these changes, as it continued to be a particular mixture of electronic and pop, built around his soulful delivery and wistful tunes. It offers a similar emotional, tonal, and stylistic range as artists like SOHN and Låpsley, with a similar penchant for bringing a quiet cinematic quality to his work. His 2023 album VISITOR is a good representative sample in that regard, in addition to his honest songwriting and musical soul-bearing.
