Tonstartssbandht
Outline
Tonstartssbandht is a prolific psychedelic and noise rock duo from Orlando, Florida. It is comprised of a pair of brothers, one on guitar, one on drums, both on vocals as well as electronic instruments and manipulations. Their early works can mostly be described as experimental noise rock, heavily influenced by Japanese noise rock bands and free jazz, but their sound evolved more towards psychedelic rock and psych-folk, influenced by Krautrock like Can as well as experimental improvisational groups like Pärson Sound and sometimes utilizing vocal harmonies like the Beach Boys. The resulting sound is, at times, somewhat similar to bands like Animal Collective. 2021's Petunia, recorded in 2020 during Covid shutdowns, saw the sound evolve further still with much cleaner production and tighter playing and vocals/harmonies, but still within a DIY, lo-fi tradition. The group is known for spirited live performances that feature extended improvisational jams.

Biography
Tonstartssbandht was formed in 2008 when Edwin was 20 and Andy was 18. The group's name is an invented word and pronounced Tahn-starts-bandit, at least according to vocals on the song "Tonstartssbandht?" on the 2009 album An When.
