Pip Blom is a band from Amsterdam, named after its guitarist, singer, songwriter, Pip Blom, whose early lo-fi bedroom recordings were the origins of the band. They produce a kind of indie pop that stays very close to the '90s indie rock lane, with the raw garage feel, distorted guitar riffs, breathy long note vocals punctuated by loud choruses driven by guitar bursts, the whole thing. They do so as a starting point, however, and do not sound like a nostalgia band. Blom is just too good a songwriter to go down that path. She is sharp and apparently carries with her a full bag of ideas. Pip Blom, the band, on the other hand, has the kind of personnel that gravitates towards a bouncy feel that fits right in there between highly accessible pop and well-established indie rock tones.
