A prolific garage punk band originally from San Fransisco and currently working in Los Angeles, Osees went through a number of line-up and name changes in the past (Oh Sees, Thee Oh Sees, The Oh Sees, OCS, etc). The one constant in the band has been guitarist/singer John Dwyer, who is the main engine of the band. Over the years they covered a wide range stylistically, including punk, hard core, psychedelic, post-rock. The connective tissue between these styles is Dwyer's garage and punk sensibilities. That said, It is not unusual to see Osees come out of a hard core bender (think Henry Rollins) and slip right into a Can-like exercise in krautrock, then jump right into neo-psychedelia with 70s style groove (see Tame Impala and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard) then drift in to Swans style post-rock angst in the span of a handful of songs in the same album. They are aggressive, project a sense of foreboding, but they can also be playful at times.
