Loverboyrando

Loverboyrando is the name guitarist Randolph Calixto of Beach Bums uses as a solo artist. His work generally covers a similar type of ground as his band, typically concentrating on a combination of low-key mixture of garage and mumbly alt-rock ballads delivered in a dreamy tone. His 2019 album EEK! strayed from his usual style by focusing on solo guitar think pieces that explored the expressive possibilities of his instrument, while extending his reach into a jazz inspired, emotionally moving, and dissonance-friendly sound. He seems to have hit the reset button since then as he has been moving closer to shoegaze with a noticeable goth edge in his more recent recordings. His music has remained consistently lo-fi throughout all these changes in direction.
