Lebanon Hanover is the darkwave duo Larissa Iceglass and William Maybelline, who are not from Lebanon nor Hanover, either of the two neighboring towns in Vermont, US that the band is named after. They are based in Berlin, instead. There is a bit of goth in their music and a bit of new wave flavored synths. They embrace the hallmarks of the genre with drum/bass driven central motifs, flanger effects on the guitar, synths that fill the background, and mournful vocals sung in the lower register (Iceglass and Maybelline taking turns with Iceglass, who sings in German half the time), and so on. They reference The Cure often, both the Faith era and the drones of Disintegration. and very early Cocteau Twins, specifically, the Garlands period. Their 2020 album Sci-Fi Sky incorporates shoegaze type wall of distortion on the guitar more prominently.
