Le Butcherettes is an indie rock band from Guadalajara, led by Teri Gender Bender (aka Teresa Suárez Cosío) on guitar and vocals, who has been the only constant in the history of the band. They started out as a garage rock inspired, guitar-driven, loud and boisterous band whose power came from their ability to harness that energy and thread the line between aggressive and reassuring, along the lines of The Kills or PJ Harvey's Dry. On their third album, their sound started to align better with the more mainstream types of rock, adding synthesizers to their line up, and getting increasingly closer to being an arena band. Gender Bender's songwriting also became more well-structured, staying closer to the tried-and-true, and it became more polished, fully embracing a pop approach eventually. It would be fair to say that they currently occupy a more pop-adjacent corner of the indie rock sphere.
