Johnathan Blake

Johnathan Blake is a jazz drummer, composer, and bandleader who usually plays in the post-bop style, though this is hardly a limitation on the range of his work. Like most modern artists, he freely tugs on other threads as well to bring more flexibility to his catalog, whether it is fusion or hard bop. That said, there is an additional expansive feel to his music, almost a conversational cadence that surfaces quite regularly in his pieces. Some of this is due to the  imaginative execution in an ensemble setting, and some of stems from the nature of his compositions, another area where he excels at in addition to him being an excellent and highly accomplished drummer.
