Greensky Bluegrass

Greensky Bluegrass is a string quintet from Kalamazoo, Michigan, made up of a guitar, a mandolin, an upright bass, a banjo and a dobro that combines country and bluegrass. They are essentially a bluegrass band playing country songs with a pop/rock feel minus the drums or any other percussion instruments in their line-up. Their songs are filled with all kinds of hooks, catchy riffs, nice melodies and well-placed solos. They benefit quite a bit from having multiple songwriters who are really good at their craft. They also have a propensity to jam in their live shows, as captured in a series of live albums they have put out, which makes them one of the relatively unusual members of the pantheon of modern day jam bands out there.
