Ginger Root

Singer and multi-instrumentalist Cameron Lew uses the moniker Ginger Root as he records catchy and hard-to-resist pop with a vintage spin. His music is based firmly in soul, and more specifically, a mixture of soul and pop that reflects the stylistic choices of the late '70 and early '80s. This is apparent both in his melodic flow and the instrumental feel he conjures, including a twinkling electric piano that evokes the period. He expanded further over time into a light disco territory, while also coasting along a super-relaxed, west coast soft rock meets Japanese city pop sound. His songs tend to be quite captivating melodically, with plenty of hooks that consistently hit an elusive sweet spot for memorable pop.
