Outline
Gelli Haha is actually the indie rock artist Angel Abaya embracing the ecstasy of dance music and just letting it go. She builds her music primarily on a synth pop sound, with a strong disco element woven into it. Her use of synths also comes across as a call back to the '80s incarnation of dance music. She keeps a light and effervescent tone, and apparently relishes a slightly absurdist tinge in her lyrics. Her songs are as uptempo and lively as they are catchy. The production in her debut album Switcheroo (2026) is sparkling with a meticulous polish applied with the kind of care that makes sure all the spontaneous joy she pours into her music is not dampened.
