Frog

Frog is the project of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Daniel Bateman who works with his brother Steve on drums. Their original drummer Thomas White has since come back to take over the bass duties. Their music is a world unto itself in a way. It is built on playful indie rock and inspired by folk motifs. They sound very DIY, with songs that come across as deliberately underworked, almost oozing with campfire energy, while also feeling quite articulated and complete. It is a tricky balancing act that the band pulls off with ease, and plenty of warmth, in no small part due to their ability to keep a sense of spontaneity in their songs, coupled, of course, with Bateman's ability to consistently put out tunes that are catchy both lyrically and melodically.
