FACS

FACS is a Chicago based band that fully embraces the dark, gothic tones of classic post-punk that has been updated with some shoegaze and post-rock elements. Their music is anchored in the rhythm section more than anything else, and like most bands in the genre, they tend to be heavy at the low end, comfortably settled in the mid-tempo range, as they push up a sound that can be distant and detached as it can be grim and intimidating. They added more action at the higher end of the sonic spectrum starting with 2020's Void Moments, adding a bit more variety and maybe a mild psychedelic edge. The band particularly stands out with their ability to consistently access a mesmerizing beauty through a deliberately dark palette.
