There was a time in 2018, 2019 that Ty Segall was simply the most prolific artist out there, endlessly releasing album after album, including some side projects. He is still quite active and he achieves this productivity without diluting the quality of his output in any way. He works primarily as a garage rock artist: his music is rough, scrappy, free-flowing, loud, and lo-fi. He does shift into other genres as well, like metal, punk. surf rock, and psychedelic rock, though still anchored in the garage esthetics. There are even a good number of (mildly surprising) folksy acoustic numbers in his catalog. His songs almost always has strong hooks. The sheer volume of his discography may be intimidating for some newcomers but those who enjoy their music raw and powerful, he offers a large and fairly consistent body of work to dig into.
